Bike Stop Ecuador has arranged a program to help children in the community ride bicycles to school.

The kids who go to this school come from low income families and receive bicycles from government and private institutions and charities.

Bike Stop mechanics deliver the bicycles to the school to teach the children how to use and maintain the bikes.

From the pictures it looks like these children are having a great time riding to school.

KHS 1987 John Howard Triathlon Pro

Here is a recent acquisition from the internet. A KHS John Howard Signature Triathlon Pro from 1987. This was a $499 bicycle in its day. At about 23 lbs., it came with all the latest Shimano technology available. 6-Speed SIS Shimano Index Shifting, Bio-Pace chainrings and SLR Aero brake levers. The bicycle was also spec’d with an alloy quill stem and alloy pedals. Clipless pedals were just starting to take over the market but total domination from Look/Time/Mavic/Shimano was still a few years away.

Bio-Pace Chainrings were must-haves in 1987

6-speeds were standard in 1987. Now we use 9,10 and even 11!

Until a few years ago, all bikes looked like this

sixfifty606–The KHS 650B bike

2010 KHS sixfifty606
Now KHS has even more soul! The new 2009 KHS Urban Soul as just arrived, and we know this is what your looking for. Great urban vibe at a great price.

KHS’ newest bicycle is also our first 650B wheel size model. The sixfifty606 comes in 4 sizes (S, M, L, XL) to fit mmost everyone. The concept behind using the 650B wheel is really the best of both worlds. The 650B is larger than the standard 26″ MTB wheel for faster speeds, greater inertia, and ease of navigating small and large bumps. The wheel is slightly smaller than the 29″ that has become popular in the past few years. This allows for greater agility over the 29″, plus allows smaller riders to still beagle to use the 650B sze easier.
We feel the 650B could soon become the MTB standard, and the sixfifty606 could be your next bicycle.
