KHS 29″ Tempe featured in Puerto Rico magazine

Puerto Rican actor Jesus Javier “Machazo” is featured in the latest issue of TvYNovelas next to the 2012 KHS Tempe 29er.

In the interview Jesus said that cycling is important because it shapes his character as a person, keeps him disciplined, and it teaches that in life we must be competitive.

The 2012 addition of the Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix was another exciting event. Being an NCC race, all teams were limited to a 6-man roster. Although this course favors a sprint finish, we were playing our cards at a break away. Devan Dunn, Michael Weicht and Stefano Barberi each animated the race and rode into breakaways, but none of these moves got enough traction to stay away from the hard-chasing field.

Never content to be complacent, Devan Dunn made the race really exciting by being in two breakaways. The second of the two stayed ahead of the field until he and his breakaway partner Eric Marcotte (Elbowz) were swarmed by the field with a lap and a half remaining in the race. Lee Muse, Wes Holloway and David Santos had worked hard to allow the break to stick, but with the work of Mountain Khakis and Full Circle to set their sprinters up for the finish, Devan was reeled in.

Ken Hanson of Optum Pro Cycling  won the 90 minute criterium and Ricky Escuela of Full Circle was 2nd.  Our highest placed racer was David Santos in 15th. Official results HERE.

KHS DH650b

KHS Factory Team Manager Quinton Spaulding is totally psyched about 650b wheels for downhill racing. He told us that based on his prototype testing, the tween wheels offer traction advantages with no compromise in handling. “Nothing lost, only gained,” was his executive summary.

KHS is fully committed to the production of an all-new DH650b model, based on the suspension platform used on the company’s current DH300 bike (shown here). The first production bikes are due off the line in about six weeks. Look for KHS rider Logan Binggeli to pilot the DH650b at the upcoming Red Bull Rampage in Virgin River, Utah.

The plan is to have the Factory Team riders thoroughly test the DH650b throughout the end of the 2012 and into 2013, with an anticipated release to the public in late 2013 or early 2014.
