The CashCall Mortgage Cycling Team members were excited to have a local race after many weekends on the road. The San Marcos Crit is a longer, four turn course with a serious climb after turn 3 which heads straight into the headwind and a false-flat finish. The nature of the course lends itself to breakaway’s and minimizes the opportunity for racers to “sit in” for a sprint finish.

Devan Dunn, 1st
Michael Weicht, 2nd
With the last spot on the podium yet to be decided, Brian and Lee worked together to get Lee ready for the bunch sprint. The finish is a difficult one in that the group goes full gas up the climb which turns right onto the false flat. You can not see the finish from there as it is around a turn. At the turn, you see the 200m to go sign but many riders are already spent from their efforts. Brian and Dave worked to position Lee for the sprint, where he placed 2nd – 4th on the day. Dave was right there in 6th.
