Fabrizio Von Nacher has spent several weeks training in Mexico after he competed in the Mexican National Championships, where he placed 2nd. He was able to race, and win, a road race near his home this past weekend. Fabrizio’s family has a rich cycling background and one of the big perks of racing at home is that he can race alongside his dad! We asked Fabi several questions about the race, which landed the teams 17th win of the season!

KHS: What was the race called you won?

FVN: The race I won on Sunday is called “Clásica Rayones”

KHS: Where was the race?

FVN: It was a local race in my home town Monterrey, Mexico.

KHS: What was the race like?

FVN: It was a rolling route on a highway that ended up in a 6km climb. It is pretty hot here, but mostly it is really humid.

KHS: How long was the race, distance?

FVN: It was about 60 miles

KHS: How did the race play out?

FVN: My dad and I raced together and there was a couple of local teams that have strong riders like Hector Hugo Rangel (raced the Olympics in the London 2012 Road Race), so I knew he was the guy to watch.

KHS: Did you sprint for the win?

FVN: Hector and I went on the attack before hitting the final climb and started to climb together. By the end of the climb, we started attacking each other and I got away.

KHS: Was it more challenging to race without your teammates? Did you have to be crafty?

FVN: Yes, because I needed to be aware of every single move. If I lost focus for one second, the race could be over for me.

KHS: Are you excited to come back to the US to race with your teammates?     Off course, I am excited to go back to the US and race again with my teammates and get focused again. It has been nice to be home in Mexico, I have enjoying a couple of weeks with my family.
