Things Heat up at a Frozen Bootleg Canyon

This past weekend at Bootleg Canyon in Bolder City, NV had some epic weather. You had strong winds, rain, hail and even snow! But that did not stop the KHS Factory Racing team from coming up big.

Nik Nestoroff took the win again at he DVO Winter series, with teammates Steven Walton, taking 2nd and Logan Binggeli with 3rd place on the day. “Super good time out at the second round of the Bootleg Gravity Series. The whole team was out there flying and brought home some great results. The KHS was working awesome and we swept the podium!” -Nik Nestoroff

Also newest team member, Bryce Helbling, took 5th place on the day.

“Great weekend out with team in Bootleg for the second round of the series! I was plagued by many flat tires all weekend allowing me to only get two practice runs in before race time, so I’m stoked with a 2nd place finish between Nik and Logan. The team atmosphere was the perfect recipe for success.” -Steven Walton

Walton Goes 3 in Row in Fontana

Another great weekend out at the races! With rain in the forecast for the entire weekend I was unsure of what to expect heading into Saturday’s practice session. Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers meant the conditions for this race were absolutely perfect. I quickly tested my limits and found myself crashing on the ground. After “dusting” myself off and catching my breath, I headed back up to get my lines dialed. I soon found that my KHS 650 and this race track were a match made in heaven, flowing together almost seamlessly.
Race day quickly came around, which saw more participants and spectators than the previous two races. More rain came down over night, and continued to come down well into practice. With track conditions less than ideal, and two consistent runs needed, I figured the best option would be to tame it down ever so slightly in the rocks, focusing mainly on the pedaling lower down. In the end it worked out for me, and I was able to claim my third consecutive win in this five race series.

KHS Factory’s Steven Walton takes home the Win

KHS Factory racing’s Steven Walton found himself back on the top step in Fontana at the Southridge winter series as he goes with back to back wins in the series.

“The second round of the 2019 Southridge Winter Series started off less than desirable but quickly improved come race time.” Steven goes on, “Day 1 featured winds and gusts upwards of fifty mph; more than enough to knock you off your bike without notice! With conditions as bad as they were, I opted for a “one and done” practice run to conserve my energy for the harder than usual Fontana sprint. Day 2 had beautiful weather that was great for racing. New race rules for 2019 meant two race runs were in store, putting a large emphasis on consistency. Both of my race runs were smooth and fast, and I was able to pilot my KHS to the top step for the second time in a row in the series so far!”
