Podiums for the KHS Pro MTB at Southridge Winter Seires

Fontana, California would be hosting round two of the Southridge Winter series. Success was continued with our third race of the season. The race team would start off Saturday with three stages of Enduro which would keep all athletes on their toes. They would have to manage each race and have no mistakes to get the lowest time to win.

It would be Nik Nestoroff who would win his second Enduro Regional race of the year, keeping his race machine ahead of all the other competitors. Steven Walton would be hot on his heels with a solid second-place finish. All the athletes have really been enjoying their new KHS Bicycles 6600 Enduro machine which is new to our fleet.

Sunday would move onto the downhill racing event; it would be another demanding physical track. Not only with many physical and mental obstacles to overcome it was quite short, so times would be tight.

Nevada State Championship at Bootleg Canyon

Unbelievable weekend at the Nevada state Championship race in Boulder City, Nevada hosted by Bootleg Canyon Mountain bike park. Bootleg Canyon has been on the map since the mid-80s and has always seen some of the best World Cup riders like Sam Hill and Steve Peat! It’s a one-of-a-kind terrain that is very rocky, loose and gravelly. It takes a very highly skilled athlete to navigate the treacherous terrain of Bootleg from top to bottom and put in a solid race run.

Friday was the first day of practice/training. It was no walk in the park, unfortunately weather conditions with over 45 mph winds that would make it very difficult for all the athletes to get down the hill. Everyone was trying their best to maintain lines and navigate the course. Saturday would be a better day of weather for the team. With bluebird skies and a high of 60° weather, they were finally able to have a great day at practice and dial all their line selections in for the finals come Sunday. Also, with Saturday highlights the Enduro category which would be held down by our athlete Naish Ulmer, he would put in a solid three stages with some of the best racers in the West Coast competing. Naish finished a solid six place in the pro men’s Enduro field representing our grassroots program at a higher level.

Podiums all Weekend Long


The KHS Pro MTB team started off the 2022 race season with a bang. Capturing back-to-back wins at the Fontana Winter series regional event. Southridge USA has always been a foundation to the mountain community by bringing some of the best racers in the world to the California dirt. It would be Nik Nestoroff who has had an absolutely fabulous off-season, he would take the pro men’s Enduro win on board the brand new KHS 6600 Enduro bike. Followed up with a strong result from Steven Walton he would be taking third in the Enduro which was very impressive since he’s under the weather.

The team couldn’t be more ecstatic with a fresh start and new bikes under their belts to get the ball rolling for the 2022 race season. Fontana, California always produces some great race weather along with a strong field of racers to compete against the best of the best. Firing off in the Downhill Pro women’s Kailey Skelton would get back to her roots right where she left off in 2021 with winning the female Pro downhill race by a large margin and getting her feet wet and back into the grind of racing.

High School Student finds riding Her bike helps Her Sleep

Emma Wang is a 17 year old HIgh School from Northern California who received a project to make a “Habit Change Journal” from her AP Psychology teacher. As a member of her school’s track and field team she used this project as a way to start her training. Emma had this to say, “I wanted to start getting back into shape for my upcoming track season while not putting too much strain on my knees and shins. Biking seemed like an accessible and decent alternative, since my dad has had our khs mountain bike in the garage for years. Only in recent years have I been tall enough to use it. I used to use it to bike to work, and didn’t have the time to use it otherwise. As a flat footed athlete with other pre-existing conditions, I am incredibly susceptible to injuries when training, so I have to be especially careful during preseason to prevent shin splints and over-training my knees. It is common knowledge that biking is easier on the knees than pounding it out on the pavement or track, so I wanted to give it a go. In addition, I was getting very little sleep as a first semester high school senior balancing academics, extracurriculars, and college apps. My hope was that more regular biking could help improve my sleep quality.”

I usually lock myself in my room after I get home from school, and am too busy to go out and get some physical activity in the afternoon, so barring rainy weather, I want to develop a habit of going on…
